Welcome to my Crafting World!

Hi! My name is Maria, I am 34 years old and I'm a certified Craft-a-holic! LOL. I make different kinds of projects from Cards (which is my favourite), Art Tags, Mini Albums, Jewelries, Candles, Party Favours etc...

I've created this blog to share my projects and ideas to everyone who loves to craft.

Being a Certified Craft-A-Holic, you would expect to see me creating 3-4 projects simultaneously in one night. But of course, I don't finish them all in one night, esp. when I am doing a project that involves Mixed Media. I don't use a heat tool to dry my mixed media projects, as it ruins the project. Using a heat tool to dry your projects, tends to create a lot of air bubbles on the projects, which doesn't look nice. I find air dried projects to be more studier. It also give the project a neater look.

I craft every night, I would make one finished Card, one unfinished Album (which I do finish later on, after the drying when I am using Mod Podge or after cutting all the fussy cuts) and one unfinished Mixed Media Project (which I do finish later on, after the drying or so). Then the next night I will continue doing my Album to try and finish it (depends also if I am still using Mod Podge), then my Mixed Media (depends if I still need to use other Wet Medium) and another Card or I will go and jump on my fourth project. Believe me, I have a lot of projects in mind all the time. What I always do is Sketch or Write down my projects using my Phone, so that I won't forget it. I am not good in drawing I just Doodle it. LOL. If crafting is an Office Job, I will be very happy to go to my workplace everyday. I usually craft at night, due to the fact that I am a stay-at-home mom and I have an almost 2 year old son who loves to craft with me. Believe it or not, he does the Mod Podging for my projects, of course with my guidance, and some paintings too. But since I'm a confessed Craft-a-holic, I try to finish every house chores in the morning before my son comes back from the Nursery so I can craft! I take advantage of watching TV with my husband and with my son by fussy cutting while watching and I also take advantage of texturing or gluing onmy projects while cooking. "Imagine your life with me, if I'm your wife! LOL". But nonetheless. I don't forget my Duties as a Wife and a Mom. I see to it that everything is in order everyday before I craft, food is ready, house is clean and my son is well fed. Playtime with my son is crafting with him, so I don't have a problem at all, because he enjoys it, or I take him out, which he loves to do as well.

I hope you all will enjoy my posts. Please do leave a comment, follow me or add me to your circle.

Happy Crafting!

My Graphic 45 Adventures - Voyage Beneath The Sea

And so did I......  My Voyage Beneath The Sea....

I was dreaming about walking underneath the Sea, looking after the most amazing things that I can find.  I saw some Amazing Sea Horse, Beautiful Starfish and Gorgeous Corals.  Then all of a sudden....  A Large Fish Pass by me.........  On it riding was a Mermaid.

"A Mermaid!!!"  I exclaimed.  The most beautiful creature I've ever seen...

6x6 Shadow Box Accordion Mini Album

I continued walking thru, exploring the depths of the sea.  Then suddenly a Half-Human Half Octopus appeared in front of me.  I was shocked!  I thought it would eat me.  I was so scared!!!!
6x6 Shadow Box Accordion Album

Then suddenly a Human riding on a Big Fish rescued me.  It was a relief!...  I was put back ashore.  I went home thinking....  I need to sit down for a tea with my friends to tell my adventures and write this amazing adventure on my Ladies Diary.

Ladies Diary coming soon......

Good Day Crafters!

Today I want to share a project that I have 3 weeks ago, I was not able to post it, nor put it in my G45 Audition because I do not have the Feet yet!  The Feet just arrived yesterday, as I have to order it online from the States.  Its a Mixed Media Shadow Box Accordion Mini Album.

This project is made thru layers and layers of Fussy Cuts.  I did mix media on it too.  But I see to it that my papers would shine and not covered by anything that I used for mix media.  I realised that most of the people who does mixed media with Amazing Papers use a lot of Mediums and Embellishments that therefore outshines the paper and I don't want it to happen to my project.  Don't get me wrong, their work is beautiful, but for me, if I do mix media on a beautiful paper, I want the paper to shine.  So I did it like so....

I started of making my own 6x6 shadow box using a 12x12 Cardstock and some chipboards to back it up.  I did a lot of texturing using my texture paste and a scale stencil i found online (i made it thru my curio, got the svg file online).  Then I paint it, Spray it, Crackle it, Stain it and finally Mod Podge it all over. Then I started decorating it with my fussy cuts and gears that I painted and distressed.

first layer of fussy cuts.  Imitating the background.

Accordion Mechanism.

I also did textured and painted the sides of the accordion mechanism like so.

I used a tab from a Tim Holtz Die.  I placed an eyelet on it and distressed it with Tarnished Brass.  I also placed some crystals on it on both sides.  It reminds of the helmet of the man who's walking underneath the sea on the Paper Collection

Decorated my inserts plainly like so.  So I can place big pictures inside.

Added enclosure on both sides likes so and added magnets so i can remove it.

Card of the Day - Card Challenge via Paper Crew PCCCS187

Good Day Crafters!

Its been a long time, I haven't post a thing.  First and foremost its because I ran out of Cardstocks, and basing from my location, its difficult to find a smooth white that is 270gsm and above.  I am still in the hunt of looking for an off white Cardstock.  I was trying to finish my album, but then again, I cannot fully finish it, because I do not have the feet, which I very much needed.  I am still waiting for it to get delivered from the states, and it really takes a lot of time.  Secondly, my Husband is currently out of the country for a business trip, so I have to take care of a very naughty boy by myself.

I was looking thru Challenge blogs, I never know that there's a lot of challenge blogs, not until today, because I don't usually browse the internet, I usually use my phone to purchase stuff online, without really looking into whats up and about.  I ran into a blog called http://www.papercraftcrew.com and saw one of their challenges.  I usually make huge cards, but since, I am still waiting for my White Cardstock to arrive, I settled in making a 51/2 x 51/2 Card basing everything on Paper Craft Crew Challenge.  In this Challenge, they are not really requiring you to use stampin up products, but its kinda of a PLUS point.  So I did my best to use whatever Stampin Up Products I own, most of them are already discontinued, as I buy the usually on Clearance Sale.  I haven't done any Card Making Challenge, and this is my first time to do so.  Here it goes......

One Die Set Card - May All Your Wishes Come True

Good day Crafters!

Today I wanted to share a Card using one Die Set.  I know many of us don't own a lot of dies, and it will be very practical to have one set of die that can do it all.   I was playing with my dies last night and I ended up making a Card using one Die Set instead of mixing around every die set that I own.   In this project I have used Spellbinders Nestabilities - Marvellous Square to make a background a frame and embellishments.  So here it goes....

STEPS ON HOW TO MAKE THE CARD:

Gather your materials and tools.  Spellbinders - Marvellous Square Die, Cardstocks (I have used white and glitter carstocks), Stamp (I have used Fiskars - Wishes), Inkpad (I have used Memento - Tuxedo Black to stamp and Embossing Ink to ink up the Edges), Rangers Perfect Pearls, Flatback Pearls and of course your die cutting machine, adhesives and your paper trimmer.

Spellbinders Nestabilities - Marvellous Squares

I die cut a piece of white cardstock and trim the edges like so.

I die cut six pieces of Glitter Cardstock like so.

I die cut 2 frames using a white cardstock like so.

I die cut a glitter cardstock like so.

I die cut a white cardstock, stamped it with my memento inked and fiskars stamp, inked it with my embossing ink and sprinkled some perfect pearls like so.

I cut out a glitter Cardstock to layered my background die cut using a wet adhesive like so.

Then using a double side foam tape I popped my other die cuts on top.

I have arrange my Frames like so.  Remember to measure the length of your background before sticking all them together.
I layered them on top of my background layering like so.
Then I pop up my sentiment using a double sided foam tape and embellished the card with some pearl.

I hope you all like it!  Enjoy your Weekend!!!

Happy Crafting! =)

Graphic 45 Cityscapes - Pop Up Slider Easel Pamphlet Card

Good day Crafters!

My Oh My!  It was a happy day for me because its almost weekend!!! =).  Anyway, I am still waiting for the Graphic 45 Feet to arrive so that I can finish my Voyage Beneath the Sea Project, but while waiting, Ive decided to make a Card using Cityscapes.

The first time I saw Graphic 45 Cityscapes, I already know what I want to do.  I want to make some buildings that pop up.  I have thought of making an album today, but its gonna take a lot of time to finish and I don't have enough Black Cardstock as Ive used most of it already, so Ive decide to make a Card.  Its a Pop Up Slider Easel Pamphlet Card.  A Pop Up card that has the Mechanism of a Slider Easel Card and looks like a pamphlet in the inside.  Here it goes....

Card of the Day - March 15, 2016

Good day Crafters!

I miss this!  I haven't been inside my craft room for the past few days because my husband is using my room to make a presentation it will take a week or two, thats what he told me.  Of course, I couldn't say no, he's the one buying my crafting products.  So I just content myself in rearranging the whole house. LOL.  I also craft on our kitchen counter (talking about addiction), just finishing some voyage beneath the sea project, but unluckily I cannot make a new one, because I cannot sit on my crafroom. =(.  But yea!!!! Last night, my husband did not work on his presentation as he fell asleep in couch last night, and my son was also sleeping, so I took the opportunity to craft!!!!!  Yipeeeeeeee!!!!

By the way, my free photoshop application expired just before finished my Graphic 45 Design Team Audition Project Pictures, I don't have the budget to buy a new one right away, but last night, I got a refund from one of the Manufacturer's Online Store (I won't name it, but they're kinda big), since its been a month and they haven't  shipped my orders due to blah blah blah, I told them to just refund my money, I don't have the patience to wait for another month, since I can just buy the dies from a retailer.  Well, instead of buying the same dies, I bought something different, from a different Manufacturer, Tattered Lace, they ship fast, so did I fell involve with them!  The rest of the remaining money I used it to buy a Photoshop Application, since I am trying to learn and understand how to use it slowly.  I am not a tech-y kind of person, but when I was trying out the application last month, I liked it, and I am starting to learn a lot more on how to use it.  "I JUST MADE MY BRUSH STROKE LOGO!"  Yipeeeeee!!!!

Enough said, here goes my Card of the Day!

  • Creative Expressions - Sue Wilson Meridian Ledger
  • Spellbinders - Fancy Lattice

Tim Holtz Tag March 2016

Good Afternoon Crafters,

I hope you all had a great morning!  =).  Today I want to share a tag that I have made using Tim Holtz Techniques, with my rendition.  Here it goes....

I started by making my own tag then distressing that tag with multiple distress inkpads (at the end of this write up are the materials used).  Then I die cut another tag using Sizzix Tim Holtz - Mixed Media 2.  I spray on my tag that has been die cut with the Mixed Media 2 with multiple distress stain sprays and lay it over my inked up tag and distress it with black soot like so.

Using a corrugated cardboard (any available at home), I die cut Sizzix Tim Holtz - Mixed Media and Sizzix Tim Holtz - Layered Butterflies.

I spray the same with multiple distress stains then edged it with black soot.

I foiled it with multiple foils like so.

Then I sprayed the butterflies and with multiple distress stains and edge it with black soot. I attached my die cuts on the tag.  I distressed Tim Holtz Ideology - Word Bands with a Picket Fence Distress Paint over, then I distressed a Tim Holtz Ideology - Linen Ribbon with Black Soot and Walnut Stain and lay it over my Tag like so...

And there I have it, my Tim Holtz Tag of 2016 - March Edition.

MATERIALS USED:
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inkpads:  Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Mustard Seed, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry.
  • Ranger Tim Holtz Distressed Stains:  Tarnished Brass, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain.
  • Sizzix Tim Holtz Dies:  Layered Butterfly, Mixed Media, Mixed Media 2
  • Tim Holtz Idealogy - Linen Ribbon, Word Band

Graphic 45 Design Team Audition 2016

ONCE UPON A SPRINGTIME, I have received an email from Graphic 45 saying they are looking for a New Design Team for 2016.

I was in my garden that time while reading the email, looking at blossoming flowers and butterflies, dreaming about fairies, when a frog appear saying "its almost Easter! You must get some Easter Bunnies!"

I was shocked!  Hearing the frog talk!  So look around to check the time.

"Oh! Its time for me to pick up Jared."  I look back at the frog but I did not see it there anymore.  So I hurriedly water my GILDED LILY so I could go pick up my Jared.

On my way to pick up Jared,  I passed BY THE SEA which is right beside Jared's School.
"Oh! How I love the smell of the Sea Breeze."

I saw kids playing on the Sand and some beautiful Sea Shells.  It looks so amazing!  What a very nice afternoon sight...

Looking at the Sea...... I started dreaming of a Voyage Beneath the Sea (coming soon).  Then suddenly,,,,,,  I hear a voice saying "Mama, Lets Go!".  I look down, it was Jared, smiling at me and giggling.  I smiled back at him, kissed his chubby cheeks and walked hand and hand with him home.....

The End.......

Voyage Beneath the Sea coming soon.......

Graphic 45 Design Team Audition 2016
Projects using Graphic 45 Papers
Once Upon A Spring Time
Gilded Lily
By The Sea

My Entries for the Graphic 45 Design Team Audition 2016.

Altered 11x11 inches wall Clock using Graphic 45 - Once Upon a Springtime.

4 x 4 inches Accordion Mini Album using Graphic 45 - Gilded Lily

5 x 4 inches Instax Mini Album using Graphic 45 - By The Sea

My tutorial for today will show everyone how to make an instax mini album.  I was having a problem with all my instax pictures before, as I have been taking a lot of pictures of my son using the instax camera, but I don't know where to place it.  I am a very sentimental person, I love to keep almost every object that can symbolise a good memory of a happy experience, esp. pictures.  So I want to keep it somewhere nicely and intact, and somewhere where i can write some special dates and memories.  So here it goes.....

1.  The PATTERNS.

I started by making my patterns.  PATTERN A:  will be the for picture (where you can place it, or rather insert it) and PATTERN B: is for the designer paper (for designing and covering the pattern for the picture).

A.   Cut a Cardstock  or any Thick Paper used or unused like so....

PATTERN A:  This is where we are going to insert the instax pictures.

PATTERN B:  This is a Pattern for your pattern Paper

B.  Now that you have your PATTERNS ready, you have to cut the following using your PATTERNS.

PATTERN A:  Cut 20 pieces of PATTERN A using a Solid Color Cardstock (as per your preference). I have used Cardstock as I will be using Graphic 45 - By the Sea Paper and the Craft Color Cardstock reminds me of the color of the beach sand, thats why I chose it.  And then Score each one of them starting from 2.25in then 4.5in then the tail.  The I assemble it.  Please refer to the image below:

PATTERN A cut out

Score everything like so.
Assembled

PATTERN B:  Cut 20 pieces of PATTERN B using the Pattern Paper (your choice of design), and then ink it on the edges using Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inkpad - Tea Dye.  I have chosen GRAPHIC 45 - By the Sea 12x12, since I love to play with sea shells and this amazing paper allows me to play with shells, even without having to buy the real one.  This is what I like about G45 Papers, I don't need to own a lot of embellishments, the paper speaks for itself.  That is why in most of my G45 Projects I used very minimal embellishments like one ribbon or one plaque or NO EMBELLISHMENTS AT ALL, as G45 Papers allows me to do so.  In short, it is already amazing even without embellishments.

2.  Its time to make the Skeleton of the Album!!!!!!

A.  THE ALBUM COVER:  Cut a chipboard and cover it with a Cardstock. Refer to the illustration and the images below for the measurements and the actual Album Cover:

The Outcome

B.  Making the Spine and the Fold of the Album.

SPINE:  Make 2 Spines one for the left and one for the right.  It should be 5 pages Spine.  I made my spine using Kathy Orta's Hidden Hinge Binding.  I Score 12inches x 4 inches paper by 0.5inches.  As per the Image below.

ALBUM FOLD:  I have cut out 10 pieces of 2.25 inches width x 7 inches length Craft Cardstock and Scored it into Half 3.5inches and attached it on both my Spines.  And Then I attached my PATTERN A on the back and front of the Album Fold.   Refer to the images below:

Attaching one side of it from top to bottom on the Spine.  The is the back view.

Front View

This is how it looks like once you fold the Album Fold.

Attaching PATTERN A on the backside and frontside of the the folded Album Fold.

C.  ASSEMBLAGE:  I have placed a pattern paper inside my album cover before i placed my Assembled Spine and Album Folds.  I placed One Spine on the Left and One Spine on the right.

While Im drying it, I use some paper clips on the sides to make sure it won't move.  Because I was using Mod Podge as an Adhesive.  I am fun of using Mod Podge.  I do use double side tape sometimes.

Front view.  Showing the pattern paper I placed inside.

3.  Its time to DECORATE!

A.  The Inside.

NOTE:  All my fuzzy cut images where inked on the edges using distress markers and Mod Podge  - Matte on top.  I have used Rangers - Tim Holtz Distress Marker - Vintage Photo to ink up the edges of my images on this project.

I started that covering my assembled and attached to the spine PATTERN A with my cut outs of PATTERN B and Decorated each one of them with fuzzy cut images from the Graphic 45 - By The Sea Collection like so....

I also cut out different Pattern Paper to cover the inside of my flaps and made a belly band on one side of it.  But before I glue the pattern paper on it, I place a magnet on both sides for enclosure, then cover it up with my pattern papers.

I have made some for journaling and have placed it in the belly band.

And then I started Decorating the whole inside with some fuzzy cuts, I stick it and Mod Podge - Matte it on top.

B.  The Cover

NOTE:  All my fuzzy cut images where inked on the edges using distress markers and Mod Podge  - Matte on top.  I have used Rangers - Tim Holtz Distress Marker - Vintage Photo to ink up the edges of my images on this project.

I started covering the whole album cover with pattern papers from Graphic 45 - By The Sea Collection like so.

Then I die cut a chipboard and cover it up with pattern papers from Graphic 45 - By The Sea Collection like so.  I ink up the edges of the cut outs with Rangers - Tim Holtz Distress Marker - Vintage Photo.

I started sticking my cut outs all over using a Mod Podge - Matte like so.

NOTE:  All my fuzzy cut images where inked on the edges using distress markers and Mod Podge  - Matte on top.  I have used Rangers - Tim Holtz Distress Marker - Vintage Photo to ink up the edges of my images on this project.

Then I layered over some more cut outs that I backed with a cardstock and inked up with Rangers - Tim Holtz Distress Marker - Vintage Photo and started sticking them using a double sided foam tape like so.

I added a Fish Net (I made this fishnet using a jute string, because I don't have a fish net ready at home so I made one), some eyelet and seam binding ribbon for the enclosure.

And there I have it!!
